My goal for this workshop, on one hand, is to simply learn the basics of music making. On the other hand, I want to challenge my assumptions about what it means to make electronic music. The reason for this is because I thoroughly enjoy pop and electronic music but often find criticism of it being "not natural" or "shallow." I'm struggling to find an argument for this. I'm not sure if the purpose of this workshop is to provide answers but by making simple beats I'm already gaining new perspectives.

Day 1: I had made myself familiar with some of the features on Ableton Live before I attended the first day. Although this might sound silly, I was very fascinated by how I was able to create so many sounds from simply touching a few buttons. Because I was composing by only borrowing sounds from the library, I partly felt the desire to create my own sound.

Day 2: We continued to work with the software. This time I was curious about what the other students had come up with. I also started to realise aspects of my personality from the kinds of samples and instruments I was choosing and the manner in which I was arranging them. Using the software had become less intimidating as well.
